Japanese Electrical Manufacturers Finding a Way to Capitalize on the Global Railway Market
■ Outline
The global railroad market has strong rivals such as the European Big Three, but the absence of U.S. companies and the limited entry of East Asian companies allows Japanese manufacturing to demonstrate its competitiveness. However, the global railroad business is undergoing a period of drastic change in its business model as contractors are increasingly taking on high-risk, large-scale projects that include not only rolling stock and electrical equipment, but also civil and building construction, maintenance, and service business operations.
