On the Attempted Stabbing of Jiaqing Emperor by Chen De

  In February of the 8th year of Jiaqing (1803), a person named Chen De tried to stab Jiaqing Emperor. Although this case was attempted, it is considered to be a symbolic case in which the Qing dynasty's rule headed downhill. What kind of person was Chen De, the criminal of this case? In this paper, the author tried to clarify the real image of Chen De by carefully reading the interrogation records at that time.
