■ Title   The Cosmology of Nakai Riken: Reading His Astronomical Charts

■ Outline   The Confucianist Nakai Riken also had an interest in the natural sciences, and there have survived three of his astronomical charts, known as the "Mokusei tenzu"(Wooden Chart),"Kamisei tenzu"(Paper Chart) and "Hozu". In the past, value has been set only on the fact that, among these three charts, the Wooden Chart is centered on the sun.
