■ Title
A Study into Japanese Student's Thoughts and Approaches Towards Job Hunting
■ Outline
This paper draws from a questionnaire survey of Japanese university students in the midst of job hunting in a market characterized by so called "job shortages". The survey covered the following three main points:
(1) the degree to which "work", in the mind of students, occupies the whole (future) life,
(2) the level of confidence students posses in the pre-job-hunting stage - especially in terms of the student's own values and satisfaction with the results of their own self evaluation, and finally,
(3) the key points considered critical in successfully obtaining an "informal job offer" (naitei).
Based on the results of the survey, the paper proposes important points to consider in supporting the job-hunting efforts of students in the future.

Keywords: job hunting, informal job offer, naitei, occupational learning, career plan, realization of individuality
