■ Outline   This material was developed for a seminar held by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) in November 2005 in Naruto, Shikoku. Every participant had to develop a layout either for just one class or for a series of German classes, dealing with some aspect of German history. I chose to deal with (West) Germany's victories in the football World Cups in 1954, 1974 and 1990, based on a lenghty interview with the three team captains.
