■ 標題   『新ウェールズ語聖書』（1988）の言葉遣いに見られる、現代性と、伝統の継承性―モルガン／デイヴィス訳聖書（1588/1612）との 比較対照から分かること

■ 概要   While it is well known that William Morgan’s Bible (1588) and its revised version by John Davies of Mallwyd (1620: ‘Y Beibl Morgan/Davies, BMD) surved as a model for Standard Literary Welsh throughout the Modern Period up to the present day, the New Welsh Bible in 1988 (Y Beible Cymraeg Newydd, BCN) is also meant to reflect that Standard Literary Welsh, as well as adopting more of feastures of colloquial, living Modern Welsh. The present study demonstrates that the language of BCN is both innovative and traditional, which is refected in an extensive use of the ‘periphrastic construction’, a feature of Modern Colloquial Welsh, whereas it retains the inflectional construction, which is the feature of Literary Welsh.
